March 2013 - Doors Opening April 16 2013, 0 Comments

We have been very fortunate to have Nathalie Roch join us at The African Chef to help with administration, website development, product updates, logistics, printing and packing from the Totnes European School. She has been fantastic, and we would like to say thank you Nathalie!

We have now updated our website included some new product images, description and our new products. We will be completing all product images this month.

The highlight of March

We have had the fantastic opportunity to be invited to appear on BBC Radio 4 Food Program with Sheila Dillon, Dan Saladino and Tony Hill of the charity Tree Aid.

It was a wonderful privilege and brilliant experience to learn and to see the work comic relief is doing and changing the life of communities in Africa. I also had an opportunity to further my knowledge about Shea butter and Moringa.

BBC Food Program has opened a lot of new doors for us with exciting and interesting projects in development, we are very grateful and must thank BBC Food ProgramSheila Dillon the presenter, Dan Saladino the producer, Tony Hill the program director of the charity Tree Aid and Angela Robson (who is a writer, journalist and reporter for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service) for this wonderful experience.

I cooked my simple Baobab Chilli Jam recipe with the team and came away with a new found knowledge of African forests food. This has now inspired me to create and incorporate these ingredients into future recipes and products.

We are also very chuffed to be featuring on BBC NEWS HEALTH which talks about using tree food recipes to fight off malnutrition.

Since coming across Moringa I started to think of a product using it and I came up with Moringa Chilli Relish. Morniga reminded me of dried pumpkin leaves which is a stable vegetable used in my home country of Zambia (watch this space as we will be selling dried pumpkin leaves from Devon). I'm also now experimenting in the kitchen with Shea Butter which is incredibly versatile.

With the food festival season fast approaching we are looking forward and very excited to be exhibiting for the first time at the Ashburton Food Festival in September. Along with Abbfest where we originally launched The African Chef brand.

We dedicated our new Moringa Chilli Relish to the BBC and Tree Aid

We also discovered our new Moringa Chilli Relish is delicious with sausage and mash ! Yum !

We also have been featured in Taste Bud Magazine and in the spring edition of Wildlife MattersMarch has been very busy fulfilling orders for new retail customers as well as having the opportunity to be invited to cook and share my passion and knowledge of African food and fruit particularly the Baobab. Very happy indeed !
