 Malcolm Riley (also known as ‘The African Chef’) has over 15 years experience in the food industry covering retail & commercial in the organic food sector, establishing leading European brands into the UK food market & manufacturing innovative food products. His particular area of interest specialises in the development of new food products, formulating new recipes & improving existing products. From sourcing the right ingredients to working with large scale UK manufacturers.

His in-depth knowledge of consumer food trends, the ingredient market & flavour pairings, has lead to working with individuals & organisations (including Barfoots of Botley and Nando's) on developing concept briefs to viable products, turning initial ideas into reality from recipes, menus, new & existing products. Malcolm’s passion is to use his culinary expertise & skills to create bespoke award winning products. He has also been involved with creating a number of tailor made African themed menus for events & exhibitions throughout the UK & Europe.

Malcolm’s passion & knowledge of food, nutrition, tree foods & supporting the development of sustainable farming has resulted in his involvement in various workshops, discussion panels, presentations to Universities, catering colleges, local groups, organisations & food festivals.

He has been privileged to feature on BBC Radio 4 Food Programme with Shelia Dillon & Dan Saladino, BBC Radio Devon, BBC Spotlight, as well as other local radio stations. Malcolm has cooked at wide variety of venues including The Eden Project, London charity events & galleries, product launches involving businesses looking to offer their clients an African twist menu or to showcase specific ingredients.
